Why We're Here

One in five Douglas County residents does not have health insurance, and likely does not have the resources to pay for their health care. More than 50% of the patients who visit Umpqua Community Health Center on any given day do not have any health insurance. There are other barriers to health care in this community, such as distance to travel, language, lifestyle and a shortage of physicians who are taking new patients. Umpqua Community Health Center provides appropriate health care without regard to insurance status. Most uninsured patients receive discounts based on income. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.
